After I posted the reminder about the forums being useful for reunions, I thought that a calendar might be useful as well.

You can submit items to go on the calendar by clicking the Create an Event link when you're viewing it. The event will come to me and I will check it for validity, etc. before posting.

I added some basketball games and dance team performances to the calendar to get it going. If you have other things you'd like everyone to know about, by all means submit it!

Just wanted to remind you all with news about reunions: The forum can provide a great resource to post itineraries and get discussion going about your class reunion. Just a thought. Have fun!

If you didn't know, when you are logged in you can change the look of the entire site by changing your theme. There are only three to choose from right now, but I'm working on some others. Have fun!

Just wanted to say THANKS for all the support I've received after our little meltdown this week. The site's pretty much back to normal, minus a few new users that had signed up between Saturday and Tuesday. If you were one of those people and you're reading this, please sign up again!

Okay, we had some 'technical difficulties' over the past 24 hours.

Here's what happened: Yesterday afternoon, the company that owns the server this site is hosted on made an unannounced hardware change. This led to the server becoming unresponsive. Attempts to contact the company weren't acknowledged. The site is now on the backup server - the backup server had all the correct files for the site, but not the correct data (usernames, passwords, etc).

Here's what I've done: I had backed up the site on January 15th at 6:30pm. I restored the site information with this data.

Thanks for coming to the new JDHSGrads.com! Take a look around - there are a ton of new things to do here. Personally, I think the coolest thing is being able to send a private message to someone right from their profile, but there's a lot more that's changed.

Just looking at the lefthand menu, you can see there's now a Journal, real-time Chat, easier to use Gallery, Submit News, where you can send your announcements to me to be posted on this site, the list just goes on.

I've been working with the University of Alaska, Southeast on getting a scholarship together for JDHS graduates attending UAS. It will be available to incoming freshmen at UAS and awards will be recommended based on written essays based on the topic, "What makes you proud to be a Juneau-Douglas High School graduate?"

Just wanted to post that I will be out of town beginning tomorrow, August 30th, returning next Monday, September 6th.

Okay, so the 'audience participation' wasn't so good. Now onto plan B!
