I've been working with the University of Alaska, Southeast on getting a scholarship together for JDHS graduates attending UAS. It will be available to incoming freshmen at UAS and awards will be recommended based on written essays based on the topic, "What makes you proud to be a Juneau-Douglas High School graduate?"
Before we can get to awarding scholarships, however, we have to raise the money for it! The goal is to award at least 3 graduates at least $1,000 each. That means we need at least $3,000 by August 1, 2004 so that we can make it available to JDHS class of '04 graduates.
