What's in store for the future?

This site has been around in one form or another for over a decade now. From its beginnings as Michael Anderson's project, to our joint efforts, and finally to my continuing its operation and development after Michael's untimely passing, things have changed a lot to say the least!

With sites like MySpace and Facebook popping up, the "social networking" need of a site like JDHSGrads.com is a bit diminished. The ironic thing is that JDHSGrads.com was a "social networking" site ahead of its time - the big makeover of JDHSGrads.com that allowed for users to search for each other, send private messages, and upload photos happened in 2000 - 2001. MySpace didn't exist till 2003 and Facebook came up a year later. If only there had been a patent...

Anyhow, what I'm getting at here is that I'm really interested in what you, the users of JDHSGrads.com, would like to see on this site to make it more useful.

A lot of functionalities here are also on other networking sites, like event organization, special pages, and so on. However, I like to think that this fills a special local niche that allows for a LOT more flexibility and user-friendliness.

So - shoot me an e-mail or add a comment to this entry and PLEASE let me know what you'd like to see JDHSGrads.com become in the future. THANKS!

Updates and Happy Holidays!

The site's been a little quiet lately, so I thought I'd post a little something to let everyone know we're still here!

JDHSGrads.com is still getting new users pretty regularly, reunion coordinators are starting to pull things together for next summer, and I'm working on some new stuff that I'll try to have ready for the new year, so definitely stay tuned.

Remember you can always add to your own blog or submit content for the front page - just take a look under "Create..."!

And since it's December... Happy holidays to everyone!

Spirit of '87 Scholarship Fund

Just wanted to pass along some information about a new scholarship available for Juneau students, the Spirit of '87 Scholarship.

For students, if you meet the requirements (attended Juneau schools for at least 2 years, are a senior, etc), then you should may be eligible to receive $250 towards furthering your education.

For potential donors, the Spirit of '87 Scholarship Fund is working towards and is close to receiving its non-profit status, meaning your donations will be tax deductible. They aren't quite there yet, but you can still donate in the meantime.

If you have any questions, you can direct them to Kluane Baer, president and founder of the scholarship. More information will be posted as it becomes available!

Reunions on JDHSGrads.com

If you're the reunion coordinator for your class reunion, contact me if you'd like information about how JDHSGrads.com can help - that's what this site is here for! We can create customized reunion pages for you, hosted at JDHSGrads.com, mailing lists, events with RSVP capabilities, etc. Anything is possible, just ask!

On another topic, the new site seems to be running pretty smoothly. I'll be sending out a mass e-mail soon to notify everyone who may not have seen the site lately to come back and take another look. I've also got plans for a monthly newsletter, merchandise, games, and all sorts of stuff. If you've got comments, suggestions, concerns, questions, or just want to say hello, please contact me.

If you really dig the site, donations are always appreciated!
